OTTAWA – A quick look at Canada’s October employment figures (numbers from the previous month in brackets):
Unemployment rate: 6.9 per cent (7.1)
Employment rate: 60.8 per cent (60.6)
Participation rate: 65.3 per cent (65.2)
Number unemployed: 1,557,300 (1,606,500)
Number working: 21,081,900 (21,015,300)
Youth (15-24 years) unemployment rate: 14.1 per cent (14.7)
Men (25 plus) unemployment rate: 5.9 per cent (6.1)
Women (25 plus) unemployment rate: 5.5 per cent (5.6)
