Shopify Inc. says it has fixed an issue that was causing some merchants to encounter error messages during the busy Cyber Monday shopping blitz.
The company’s online dashboard said it identified and fixed the issue with its login authentication flow, and is continuing to monitor the system’s recovery.
Shopify said just after 3:30 p.m. ET that its help centre was experiencing longer than normal wait times for support.
Earlier in the day, it said merchants may have been receiving error message when trying to login to Shopify, or while attempting to contact Shopify Support.
Some merchants were also encountering problems with point-of-sale checkouts.
The dashboard said online store checkouts were not affected.
The issues first arose around 9:45 a.m. ET.
The company had said that to help avoid complications, merchants should remain logged in on any devices that are currently logged in.
Digital sales have remained strong this holiday season, with a new report by Salesforce showing that Canadian online sales for the weekend following Black Friday were up nine per cent compared with a year ago.
This report by The Canadian Press was first published Dec. 1, 2025.
