Brookfield Asset Management Ltd. says it is launching a joint venture to form a renewable energy company Mitsubishi HC Capital Inc..
The privately held company will acquire and operate a number of contracted renewable energy assets in Europe.
A news release from the companies says the seed portfolio comprises around 570 megawatts of installed capacity across western Europe and has an equity value of about 400 million euros — the equivalent of about $640 million.
The companies say the new venture will be jointly controlled by both Brookfield and Mitsubishi through customary governance arrangements.
Ignacio Paz-Ares, the deputy chief investment officer for Brookfield’s energy group, says that with the potential of deploying additional capital into a pipeline of renewable power assets, the platform is positioned for growth across Europe and Australia.
The new joint venture is expected to officially launch in the second half of 2026, subject to regulatory approvals and customary closing conditions.
This report by The Canadian Press was first published June 9, 2026.
