Aecon reports $108.1M second-quarter loss, compared with $7.6M loss last year

TORONTO – Aecon Group Inc. reported a loss attributable to shareholders of $108.1 million during the second quarter, compared with a loss of $7.6 million during the same period last year.
On a diluted per-share basis, the loss amounted to $1.58 compared with a loss of 12 cents during the prior year quarter.
The Toronto-based construction firm says revenue reached $1.6 billion during the period ended June 30, rising year-over-year from $1.3 billion.
Aecon says its backlog sat at $10.5 billion during the quarter, compared with a backlog of $10.7 billion during last year’s second quarter.
Based on the backlog and other factors, Aecon says it is expecting double-digit revenue growth in 2026.
Jean-Louis Servranckx, Aecon’s CEO, says the company benefited during the quarter from contract awards in sectors with attractive demand profiles.
