Iconic Winnipeg family restaurant Salisbury House is opening a new restaurant in Norway House.

Salisbury House Restaurants of Canada, in partnership with Norway House Cree Nation, is expected to open the new location by the end of March.

“We are truly delighted and excited to have entered into this agreement,” said Earl Barish, president and CEO of Salisbury House of Canada. “Our business partners have been wonderful to work with, and we anticipate a long and prosperous relationship. We bring to the table years of tradition and expertise in operating restaurants while our partners provide hard-working and dedicated employees with a strong desire to succeed.”

The new restaurant is expected to create more than 40 full- and part-time jobs in the northern Manitoba community.

“These partnerships and economic-development initiatives build respect and trust between organizations and individuals so important in creating a community in which people work together, accept and understand each other,” said Ron Evans, chief of Norway House Cree Nation. “It will secure a positive future for our children.”

There are 16 Salisbury House locations across Winnipeg.
