STEINBACH Credit Union is putting the finishing touches on plans to build a new head office and branch in Steinbach.
The largest credit union in the province has long since outgrown its premises and has been forced to house its 300 head-office staff in about seven different locations around Steinbach.
The new building will be located close to the current office along Main Street, on the property between Steinbach Place and Lumber Avenue.
CEO Glenn Friesen said it will be a few weeks before details of what the building will look like will be revealed.
But he said it will likely be about 80,000 square feet, about twice the size of its two Winnipeg branch locations at Kenaston Boulevard and McGillivray Boulevard and the newest one on Lagimodiere Boulevard.
SCU has 80,000 members and more than $3.4 billion in assets.
