How to Play

Contest length is 6 weeks from May 8 to June 16. Each week represents a different game and runs from Monday through Friday. On these days, contestants are required to visit this page, where they will find a “letter of the day” (some days may contain multiple letters). The objective is to collect all the letters over the week and on Friday, unscramble the letters to form a word relating to the newspaper business. You have until noon (12pm) each Friday to submit your word through our on-line submission form, found below. All entries containing the correct word will be pooled together into three categories: Free Press Subscribers, Brandon Sun Subscribers, and non-subscribers. So everyone can play, and anyone can win!

Weekly Winners

Twenty winners will be drawn each week to receive a $50.00 gas card: Fifteen from the Winnipeg Free Press pool, three from the Brandon Sun pool, and two from our non-subscriber pool. Winners will be announced every Saturday, within the pages of the Winnipeg Free Press & Brandon Sun. See the contest details for additional details on how you will receive your gift cards and more information concerning our no-purchase-necessary procedures.

Grand Prize Winners

After the final week concludes on June 16, weekly winners from all 6 weeks will be entered into another draw to determine who earns one of 20 spots in our Grand Prize finale event! Again, 15 will drawn from our from Winnipeg Free Press weekly winners, 3 from the Brandon Sun, and 2 from our non-subscriber pool. These names will appear in the paper on June 17.

All 20 contestants will receive a complementary tote bag full of Winnipeg Free Press publications valued at $100. For the main prizes, 15 contestants will win a 3-month subscription valued at $158.00, 4 more will win a 6-month subscription valued at $300/each, and one lucky winner will win a trip for two to visit Bali, Indonesia valued at $7,000!
