Water powers model grist mill

Handsome and imaginative are but two words to describe this beautiful new project, an old-fashioned functioning waterwheel and grist mill. This scaled, 55-inch-tall model is bound to be as popular as our working lighthouse and windmill projects have always been. Of course, with the grist mill, you can relax and enjoy the soft sounds of summer while water tumbles gracefully over the turning wheel. At the base of the project, water is collected in a small trough where an inexpensive recirculating pump lifts it to the top of the mill so the cycle can begin again. Largely drawn to full size, the pattern for the grist mill required numerous sheets of blueprint-size paper (and hence, a slightly higher cost than normal) to be certain that all you need to know is contained in one complete and easy-to-follow package. For the resulting ease of construction, the extra investment is well worthwhile. Besides clearly describing all the material you need to get under way, the plans for this project come complete with simple, step-by-step assembly instructions capable of guiding a novice hobbyist from beginning to end. To begin your grist mill, ask for pattern No. YF6 and send $29.95 (please add $6 for postage and GST). Make your cheque or money order payable to Constructive Ideas and mail it, along with your request, to: Winnipeg Free Press, c/o P.O. Box 400, Beaconsfield, Que., H9W 5T9. You may also order by calling toll-free, 1-800-561-8383 and by charging it to your Visa or MasterCard, or visit our Web site at www.greatplans.com. For great savings and to round out your yard set, ask for our windmill (Pattern No. 5036) and lighthouse (No. 5002). Ordered separately, each of these projects is $17.95. For the set of three, including the grist mill, send only $44.95 (postage and GST included).
