This Deacon's bench is a natural for any home. Practical and good looking, it naturally suits every decor. Build it from pine and the bench evokes a rustic charm that works well in an informal setting. Use hardwood and the bench is more apt for formal homes and apartments. In either case, its practicality suits all settings. The large storage compartment, hidden beneath the seat, is the perfect spot to store hats, gloves and scarves. Or, use the space for toys, games or out-of-season clothes. The project is relatively easy to make. We made sure of that. Full-size drawings eliminate all the guess work that is typical with other, ordinary plans. The plans also come complete with a materials list, a cutting schedule, step-by-step instructions, sketches and illustrations. Finished, the bench stands approximately 42-inches wide and 36-inches tall. For a variety of other benches, all made from full-size plans, you might also consider our oak blanket chest, or our cedar chest projects. To begin your Deacon's bench, ask for Pattern No. CH-8 and send $21.95 (please add $5 for postage and GST). For the oak blanket chest, ask for Pattern No. 5016; and for the cedar chest, No. 2934. Each of these plans is only $17.95 (postage and GST included). Save by ordering all three projects for $37.95. Make your cheque or money order payable to "Constructive Ideas" and mail it, along with your request to: The Winnipeg Free Press, c/o PO Box 400, Beaconsfield, PQ, H9W 5T9. You may also order by phone by calling 1-800-561-8383 and by charging it to your Visa or MasterCard. Or visit our website at www.greatplans.com. PHOTO
