Hey there, time traveller!
This article was published 24/10/2005 (7360 days ago), so information in it may no longer be current.
MISSION-style furniture evokes the old Southwest with its flat arms and spindle motif. The bold and elegant lines of this sofa (which measures 213 cm (W) x 94 cm (D) x 76 cm (H)) are not overpowering, being pleasantly softened by the gently curved upholstery of the back and the thick upholstered seat.
To complement the sofa there is a matching chair, and the two combined will make a major statement in any living room. For a super-generous sized chair, you simply duplicate the sofa construction, but build to approximately half of its width as indicated in the plans. Also included in the plans, is all you need to know to complete a professional no-sew upholstery job on these units.
The plans for this project detail all you need to know to build the sofa and chair, and come with a complete materials list, step-by-step instructions and illustrations. To begin your Mission Sofa and Chair, ask for pattern # MD00123 and send $19.95 plus $5 for postage and GST. Combine your order with the Convertible Coffee Table (pattern # 55203) and pay only $39.95 total — saving you more than $9.
Make your cheque or money order payable to “Constructive Ideas” and mail it, along with your request, to: The Winnipeg Free Press, c/o PO Box 400, Beaconsfield, QC, H9W 5T9. You may also order by calling toll-free, 1-800-561-8383 and by charging it to your Visa or MasterCard. Or, visit our web site at www.greatplans.com.
