(CP) – The Vancouver Canucks re-signed defenceman Kevin Bieksa and right-winger Tyler Bouck on Thursday while the Boston Bruins reached agreement with first-round pick Phil Kessel.

Bieksa, 25, played 39 games in his rookie season, picking up six assists and 77 penalty minutes.

He averaged 16 minutes six seconds of ice-time per game after being recalled from Manitoba on Dec. 19, 2005. The native of Grimsby, Ont., also played 23 games with Manitoba, scoring three goals with 17 assists.

Bouck, 26, played in 12 games with Vancouver last season, recording a goal, an assist and 21 penalty minutes.

The native of Camrose, Alta., also played in eight games with the club’s AHL affiliate Manitoba Moose but missed most of the season with a groin injury.

Kessel, 18, was the fifth overall pick in the 2006 draft.

He played one season of hockey at the University of Minnesota in 2005-06, finishing second on the team and sixth overall in league scoring with 18 goals and 33 assists in 34 games.

“Phil is a player with world-class speed and gifted offensive talents,” said Bruins general manager Peter Chiarelli. “We feel he is ready to begin his professional development and we are looking forward to seeing him compete at training camp.”

The six-foot, 189-pound native of Madison, Wisc., played for the United States at the past two world junior championships and in 2006 led the tournament in scoring with one goal and 10 assists.

The Calgary Flames re-signed forward Matthew Lombardi, who scored six goals with 20 assists in 55 games last season. The 24 year-old from Montreal also recorded two assists in seven playoff games.

Elsewhere in the NHL:

-The San Jose Sharks signed Everett Silvertips defenceman Graham Potuer to a tryout agreement. Potuer played 63 games for the WHL club last season, collecting one goal and five assists.
