BRUSSELS, Belgium (AP) – Stephen Loruo Kamar of Kenya won the Brussels Marathon on Sunday in two hours 11 minutes 26 seconds.
His countryman Vincent Kiptoo was second, coming home three minutes 54 seconds behind Loruo Kamar. Kenyans took seven of the top eight places.
Belgium’s Rik Ceulemans prevented complete Kenyan dominance, finishing third in 2:16.39.
The woman’s race was won by another Kenyan, Irene Mogaka, in 2:42:53. Magali Reymonenq of France finished second, some seven minutes 49 seconds behind. Belgium’s Ludmilla Afonjuschkina, came third, eight minutes off the winner.
Loruo Kamar’s victory follows his triumph on March 10 in China’s Xiamen Marathon.
Some 2,500 runners took part in the race through the Belgian capital.
