HALIFAX (CP) – Saskatchewan juniors, Quebec belles and the Alberta open team captured gold Saturday on the final day of the 2007 Tim Hortons Canadian ringette championships.

Saskatchewan took the junior (ages—15) final with a 5-4 overtime win over New Brunswick. Tatianna Kaminski and Amanda Dacey each scored two goals. Alberta captured the bronze.

In the belle final, Quebec doubled Ontario 6-3 thanks to three assists from Jessica Pepper. Alberta took bronze in the group, which features 16-18 year-olds.

Two Alberta teams clashed in the open division (19-plus) final with the provincial team beating Calgary’s Western wild-card team 5-2. Megan Todd scored twice to lead the provincial team. Ontario won bronze.

Also Saturday, Ringette Canada announced its performance awards that recognize excellence.

The junior division first all star team included Kelsey Youldon of Ontario, Kailee Karchewski of Saskatchewan, Hailey MacDonald of B.C., Dominique Scapillati of Ontario, Gabrielle Seguin of Quebec and Leslie Sarapu of Manitoba.

Dailyn Bell of Alberta, Jessica Pepper of Quebec, Chelsea Braun of Manitoba, Trish Mykietowich of Manitoba, Catherine Guerard of Quebec, and goalkeeper Deejai Mountford of Saskatchewan made the belle division all star first team.

The open division first all star team included Catherine Cartier of Wild card Quebec, Kim Beach of B.C., Barb Bautista of Alberta, Michelle MacKay of Alberta, Abbey Hoes of the Western wild card and goalie Stacey McNichol of the Western wild card.
