MONTREAL – The Genivar Income Fund (TSX:GNV.UN), a Montreal-based engineering company, has acquired Phoenix Engineering Inc., a wind power consulting firm with offices in Calgary and Montreal.
The pricetag of the deal, announced Tuesday, was not revealed.
As a result of the acquisition, Genivar will add 40 specialized employees in wind power and establishes itself in Calgary. Phoenix provides consulting services to owners and lenders, who collectively operate more than 80 per cent of the installed wind power capacity in Western Canada.
“Genivar is now Canada’s largest wind power consulting company, offering a one-stop approach for integrated services in engineering,” said Pierre Shoiry, the Montreal company’s president and CEO.
The company is one of Canada’s largest engineering services firms, with about 2,400 employees.
