Actress eats cheese and pasta! Stop the presses!

A girlfriend of mine who manages a gourmet cheese shop in London, England, recently told me she’s seen Keira Knightley in the shop several times — and that the actress is surprisingly not as greyhound-thin as one might think.

I didn’t believe her. But Keira’s recent comments in Elle magazine certainly add credence to my friend’s claims.

The Pirates of the Caribbean actress says, for example, that she hasn’t been to a gym since January and that a half-bottle of wine is a nightly thing.

“I’m trying to go, ‘F— it,’ and have bowls of pasta or whatever makes me happy,” she said. “F— it. You’ve got one life — live it.”

Perhaps she’s aiming to look more like Kate Winslet and Scarlett Johansson, two women whose physiques she says she admires.

“That kind of decadent flesh is absolutely beautiful,” she said. “How sexy is that on a woman?”

Mama, don’t let your babies grow up to be child stars

MARY-KATE and Ashley Olsen managed to turn their Full House gig into something rather lucrative, but their co-star Jodie Sweetin — she was the cutesy middle sister — has not fared quite as well. The actress, 24, is a former once-a-day user of crystal meth. Now sober, she’s ready to get back to television. Unfortunately, her new gig is a little questionable as far as good taste is concerned.

According to the New York Post, Sweetin will be the host of a show called Pants-Off Dance Off on American music station Fuse. The show features regular folks taking their clothes off to their favourite music videos.

Something tells me MK and Ashley won’t be featured, despite their connection to the host. Maybe we can hold out for Bob Saget?

Loner Keanu opens up

EVER the silent type, it appears Keanu Reeves was feeling chatty when he spoke to Parade magazine for a recent feature. The actor, who some might describe as hermitish, told the magazine recently that he’s trying to kick his habit of being a loner.

“I’m trying not to be alone so much,” he said. “And man, it’s a struggle. I want to get married. I want to have kids. That’s at the top of the mountain. I’ve got to climb the mountain first. I’ll do it. Just give me some time.”

At 40, Reeves says he recently bought his first house after what he calls “a vagabond life.”

Reeves also talked about his former girlfriend Jennifer Syme, who was killed in a car accident in 2001. The two met in 1998 and she became pregnant soon after, but the baby was stillborn.

“Grief changes shape, but it never ends,” Reeves said. “People have a misconception that you can deal with it and say, ‘It’s gone, and I’m better.’ They’re wrong.”

Tarantino picks Peas’ singer for role in new flick

MOVE over, Uma. It looks as if Fergie may be Quentin Tarantino’s new muse. Not the former Duchess of York, mind you — the Black Eyed Peas singer. According to Entertainment Weekly, Fergie, who appeared in Be Cool and Poseidon, has signed on to star in Tarantino’s new film Grind House.

No word on whom Fergie will play, but the film itself is double-feature collaboration between Tarantino and writer Robert Rodriguez. Fergie will star in Rodriguez’s portion of the movie.

“His movie is called Planet Terror and mine is called Death Proof,” Tarantino told MTV last year. “Mine is sort of a slasher film, but instead of a knife, it’s a car. He’s dealing with zombies and all that stuff.”

“Yeah, I wear it sometimes. You gotta keep your life spiced up. Storm never has sex in the movies — but Storm has a lotta sex at my house.”

— Halle Berry, to Conan O’Brien, on the longevity of her X-Men costume.
