Hey there, time traveller!

IKEA is touting a “more relaxed life” in its 2017 catalogue, a 326-page dream book that will be available Aug. 8 by mail and in stores and online Aug. 15.
Every year the massive retailer of affordable furniture taps into whatever’s being pinned and Instagrammed and snapped out there, from rustic kitchens to playful pillows inspired by traditional folk motifs.
I previewed the collection and picked out six things I was drawn to. You’ll have to wait a couple more weeks to pick yours. All prices in U.S. dollars.
Kvistbro Storage Table ($60): If you like the look of mesh storage baskets to organize your home, you’ll be charmed by this sofa table with a wire base that can be used to display and store throws, toys, bedding or books. A handle in the top makes it easy to lift the lid off. Available in turquoise or white.
Gladom Tray Table ($30): A table that is also a tray; a tray that’s also a table. I can think of many uses for this flexible metal design. Available in pale-yellow or sage-green powder-coated steel, it has a removable tray that is perfect for tea parties, cocktails or sushi nights.
Barkaboda Countertop ($229 for a 74-by-255/8-inch piece with two edging strips): The rage for shiplap and rustic wood furniture has migrated to the kitchen, where a chevron walnut countertop has an earthy appeal. The pattern creates an almost custom look.
Okand Box ($8): All the Marie Kondo-inspired talk of editing one’s items and honoring those that you do keep makes this glass and steel display box very appealing. Treasures or collections can be rotated in and out of display in the box. It elevates whatever is placed in there.
Varv Clamp Spotlight ($35): A little clamp-on steel lamp with a lot of style can be a great addition to a bed. The dimmable LED lightbulb makes it perfect for reading or mood lighting. Available in white, silver or brass.
Renrepe Cushion Cover ($6): Bring some life to a bedroom or den with this pillow. The fabric depicts a traditional Swedish embroidery pattern featuring jumping deer and fanciful flowers. At this price, buy four.
