If the U2 concert slated for tonight at the Canad Inns Stadium had fans excited, the blockbuster band’s appearance at the Burton Cummings Theatre a few days prior to the show was icing on the cake. Here’s some of the reaction to the unexpected visit from Free Press commentators, both fans and foes:
I always thought (Bono) had a big fat rock star ego… until I got to meet him. This man has a great heart. And now I am just learning about all the humanitarian work he has done too. All I can say is I want to be more like him.

Bono is like Oprah. They like their pics on the news. But when it comes down to money, they would rather see the fans spend it, instead of their own. I wouldn’t go see U2 for free. He’s the drama king of music.

Do they know that they are setting up shop in downtown Winnipeg? All we need is the Edge’s guitars to be stolen to solidify our reputation as a safe city. I wouldn’t leave any of my belongings in that alley. Looking forward to an amazing show!
