Valerie Wiebe, a respected leader in health care management in Manitoba, has been appointed as the president and chief operating officer of Concordia Hospital.
Concordia’s board of directors made the announcement on Wednesday and stated that Wiebe will begin her new position on April 13.
A press release from the Winnipeg Regional Health Authority stated that one of Wiebe’s key responsibilities will be to “lead Concordia Hospital forward on its strategic plan “Our Journey to Service Excellence – The Concordia Way to 2020.'”
“We are extremely pleased to be able to attract an executive of Ms. Wiebe’s caliber to our hospital,” Roger Gripp, chair of the board of directors of Concordia Hospital, stated in a press release.
“Ms. Wiebe brings with her a wealth of health care management experience, most recently serving as the Vice‐President & Chief Officer, Patient Services for CancerCare Manitoba, where Ms. Wiebe provided a leadership role in the provincial strategy ‘Cancer Patient Journey: In Sixty’. Ms. Wiebe’s achievements during her tenure with CancerCare Manitoba include Urgent Cancer Care, Cancer Helpline and numerous patient‐focused quality initiatives.”
Wiebe has nursing training and education at every level as she has a Registered Nurse Diploma from the Health Sciences Centre as well as a degree and master’s degree in nursing from the University of Manitoba. She also has a Certificate of Theology from the Canadian Mennonite University.
