Paul Kochan is no longer vice-president administration of the University of Manitoba.

The university would not say Tuesday why Kochan is not in the top non-academic job at the U of M after only 43 months.

Kochan declined comment Tuesday.

In a letter to the campus, president David Barnard said Tuesday that, “I am writing to inform you that Paul Kochan is no longer with the University of Manitoba.

“Paul has served as Vice-President (Administration) since September, 2012. I appreciate the contributions Paul made throughout his portfolio and as a member of the president’s executive team.

“He helped streamline the budgeting process at the University of Manitoba, making it more accountable and transparent, through such vehicles as the publication of a ‘Budget Planning Book.’ During his time here he helped shape the Visionary (re)Generation project and the University’s investment portfolio, and also ensured progress and innovations were made in campus planning, food services and other areas falling under his management,” said Barnard.

“Paul came to the University of Manitoba from the Winnipeg Regional Health Authority, where he served as Vice-President and Chief Financial Officer. A valued member of the University of Manitoba alumni community, he is also active in numerous professional organizations, and has served as president of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Manitoba. Please join me in thanking Paul for his service to the University of Manitoba and in wishing him well in his future pursuits,” Barnard said.
