Hey there, time traveller!

A second 4R Winnipeg Depot has opened, this one at 1120 Pacific Avenue between McPhillips and Weston streets.

A 4R depot is an expanded recycling depot, with the Rs standing for reduce, reuse, recycle and recover. The public can drop off material they no longer have a use for but that could be recycled, reused, composted or resold. Hazardous waste material can also be dropped off.

The first was the Brady Road 4R Winnipeg Depot.

There is no cost to customers using either of the 4R Winnipeg depots, as long as all of the materials dropped off are recyclable. Garbage is not accepted at the Pacific Avenue depot, but is accepted at the Brady 4R depot, subject to tipping fees.

Residents will be able to drop off the following materials, free of charge, at both 4R Winnipeg Depot locations:

  • scrap metal
  • large appliances
  • bicycles
  • large plastic items
  • clean timber, lumber and wood
  • ceramics and porcelain
  • rubble and masonry
  • clean fill
  • tree wood waste
  • leaf and yard waste
  • recyclables accepted in the curbside program
  • electronic waste such as televisions, computers and cell phones
  • household hazardous waste including household cleaners, paint and propane tanks
  • batteries
  • motor oil, filters, and containers
  • tires

To help make drop-off easier and faster, residents are encouraged to review vehicle packing tips in advance of travelling to a 4R Winnipeg Depot. Packing tips are available at the City of Winnipeg website.
