No dangerous goods involved in train derailment

No dangerous goods were involved when railcars carrying intermodal containers derailed in Canadian Pacific’s Logan Yards on Saturday.

There were no injuries or public-safety concerns, a CP spokesperson said in a statement.

At least two cars had to be lifted off the tracks near the northwest end of the yard. The incident is under investigation.

Crews respond to blaze on Stella Avenue

Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service responded to reports of a fire in a two-storey vacant house in the 450 block of Stella Avenue just after midnight Saturday. 

Once crews arrived they employed a defensive attack. The fire was declared under control at 1:08 a.m.

No damage estimates are available, however the house suffered major structural damage including a collapsed roof, chimney, and second floor. 

The cause of the fire is being investigated.
