Firefighters were on scene at the 300 block of Elgin Ave., just before 2 a.m. Saturday.

Upon their arrival, crews found a moving truck fully engulfed in flames under the canopy of a warehouse building.

The fire was under control within 15 minutes and was contained to the exterior of the building.

The investigation continues.

One person is in hospital after they were found injured on the Osborne Street Bridge early Saturday morning.

“We attended there for an assault call early this morning. Somebody was found suffering from some injuries,” Winnipeg Police Service Const. Claude Chancy said Saturday morning.

Chancy had few details to provide on the victim, including their age, sex or the extent of their injuries, as the police investigation was in its early stages. He said police were called to the bridge around 5:30 a.m.

The sidewalk on the east side of the bridge was blocked off by police cruisers and crime scene tape when Sue, a cyclist in her 60s, passed by around 9:30 a.m. The cyclist said she had seen what appeared to be a large amount of blood on the sidewalk alongside numbered evidence markers.

At around 10:30 a.m., the sidewalk had reopened, appearing freshly washed. Plain clothes officers in unmarked police vehicles sat parked in the parking lot of a gas station on the south end of the bridge.
