Winnipeg Police Service has arrested the 15-year-old suspect identified on Friday afternoon and is now in custody. No other details were made available.

The teen had been evading police after a second person died in relation to a series of vicious, random attacks in Point Douglas. He is facing charges of two counts of second-degree murder and one count of aggravated assault.

Another 15-year-old was taken into custody Wednesday and has been charged with the same offences.

One of the men who was critically injured died Thursday, police said. Marvin William Felix, 54, was attacked in a lane behind a hotel on the 600 block of Main Street.

A 36-year-old mother, Danielle Dawn Ballantyne, was identified as the first slaying victim. Her body was found in a Jarvis Avenue apartment.

Provinces warns of severe winds, waves near Gimli, Victoria Beach and Lake Manitoba’s south basin

Intense winds could raise water levels by upwards of five feet along both the south basin of Lake Manitoba and Lake Winnipeg’s eastern and western shorelines, the province warned over the weekend.

In a news release Sunday, Manitoba Infrastructure announced its Hydrologic Forecast Centre was anticipating high winds that could impact residents and property owners near Gimli, Victoria Beach and along the south basin of Lake Manitoba.

The province indicated northwest winds are expected to gust up to 70 km/h and cause intense waves.

“Wave action could raise water levels by as much as five feet or more,” the release states. “Residents and property owners are advised to remain vigilant and take any necessary precautions.”
