Former councillor Russ Wyatt running to reclaim his old job

Former Transcona city councillor Russ Wyatt wants his old job back.

Wyatt represented Transcona from 2002 until 2018 but did run for re-election in fall 2018.

The former councillor registered for the race on Thursday.

During his last term representing Transcona, struggles in Wyatt’s personal life sparked headlines. He took a leave from his council role in January 2018 to seek addictions treatment, then returned in May of that year.

In July 2018, he was charged with sexual assault. He has maintained that he is innocent and the charge was stayed in 2019.

RCMP try to identify pedestrian struck and killed near Dauphin

Manitoba RCMP is trying to identify a pedestrian who was struck and killed by a vehicle on a highway near Dauphin Wednesday night.
