RCMP locates missing Steinbach man

A man reported missing from Steinbach last Tuesday has been safely located by RCMP.

David McFarland of Steinbach was last seen at his home on Maplewood Street on Monday.

The 48-year-old man lives with medical conditions that require care. When he was reported missing, investigators found his cell phone in his residence, police said.

Steinbach RCMP reported McFarland had been located Sunday afternoon.

“David McFarland has been safely located. The RCMP thanks the public and the media for their assistance,” police said.

Four charged after stolen vehicle discovered

The Winnipeg Police Service has charged four people with a series of offences after officers found a group sitting in a stolen vehicle Saturday night.

Around 11:45 p.m., police identified a stolen vehicle parked in the Sargent Park neighbourhood and found two male and two female suspects inside. Officers struggled with the suspects as they attempted to flee, eventually using a Taser on both men, the WPS said in a Sunday press release.

One of the men successfully escaped on foot but was later arrested by police a few blocks away. Arresting officers learned this suspect had assaulted a bystander at a business during the pursuit. The victim did not suffer any injuries and did not require medical attention, police said.

Police arrested the remaining three suspects without incident, seizing a sawed-off 9mm rifle, ammunition and 8 grams of methamphetamine.

The accused are facing numerous weapon, drug and theft-related charges.
