Man arrested after series of indecent acts

Winnipeg police have charged a man in a string of indecent acts reported over the past year.

Police said this morning that a 24-year-old Winnipeg man has been charged with breaking into a home and three counts of committing an indecent act in connection with three separate incidents.

The Winnipeg Police Service previously released information about a break-in involving an indecent act and attempted sexual assault inside a Wolseley home on July 31. The WPS said the suspect tried to force himself on one of two adult women, but she was able to fend him off. The attacker fled before police arrived.

Miguel Michael Giasson was arrested Wednesday. Police said they have linked him to two earlier indecent acts. One was in a washroom at the Army Navy & Air Force Veterans in Canada branch on Ellice Avenue on July 25. The first was in a public laundry room in Osborne Village on Oct. 25, 2021.

The WPS sex crimes unit is still investigating the incidents. They are asking anyone with information that might help them to call 204-986-6245 or Crime Stoppers at 204-786-TIPS (8477).

Man found dead one day after car crash

RCMP have discovered the body of a Powerview man one day after he died in a single vehicle collision near Pinawa.

The crash occurred shortly before midnight on Saturday, but the man was not discovered until the following day, police said in a Monday press release.

Around 10:30 p.m. Sunday, Lac du Bonnet RCMP responded to reports of a fatal crash at the end of Provincial Road 211 in Pinawa. When officers arrived on the scene, they found a 30-year-old man lying dead on the embankment of the Pinawa Channel, police said.

The initial investigation determined the man, who was the vehicle’s only occupant, was travelling east at a high rate of speed when he struck a tree and was ejected from the vehicle. It appears he was not wearing a seatbelt, police said.

The investigation is ongoing.
