MANITOBA recorded an increase in COVID-19 cases and hospitalizations last week.

The province’s epidemiological report for the week of Sept. 11 to 17 also showed a higher test positivity rate, at 22 per cent, but fewer lab tests were conducted compared with the previous week.

In total, 377 PCR-confirmed cases of COVID-19 were detected compared with 342 cases in the previous week, but the average daily number of people tested decreased to 286 from 327.

(Most of Manitoba’s COVID-19 cases aren’t counted because most people no longer have access to PCR lab tests).

The province announced 87 hospital admissions, including 11 patients in intensive care, and two deaths linked to COVID-19 last week. Its retroactive tally was updated to include six additional deaths and 153 additional hospital admissions.
