Man dies in rollover
A 22-year-old man died after his vehicle rolled into a rural ditch Thursday morning in the Rural Municipality of Stuartburn, southwest of Winnipeg.
RCMP from Emerson and the local fire department were called about a vehicle submerged in water in the ditch at Road 10 North and Road 38 East at about 9:50 a.m. When emergency responders arrived, they found the man, who was from the area, dead inside.
RCMP believe the vehicle was travelling south on Road 38 East, when it turned onto Road 10 North before hitting the ditch and rolling sometime overnight.
Woman charged in murder
A second person has been charged in the death of a 20-year-old man who was run down by a vehicle on an off-road trail in Powerview-Pine Falls in June.
An 18-year-old woman from nearby Sagkeeng First Nation, who was a passenger in the vehicle, was charged on Tuesday, RCMP said.
Following the June 3 incident, a 15-year-old female from Sagkeeng was charged with second-degree murder. RCMP allege she was the driver.
A 27-year-old woman was injured when the vehicle hit the two pedestrians on a trail near Dupont Street.
Both accused are also charged with assault with a weapon.
RCMP spokeswoman Cpl. Julie Courchaine has said it’s rare for a vehicle to be used as a weapon.
Police had confirmed the victims and the 15-year-old knew each other, but didn’t elaborate.

The plan is being co-ordinated through Manitoba’s Emergency Measures Organization

On Thursday, police, including the firearms unit, guns and gangs unit and tactical officers, executed a warrant on a home on the 1400 block of Ross Avenue West, where they arrested a man and a woman.
Inside, police found two disassembled sawed-off 12-gauge shotguns, two gun barrels, a trigger mechanism, various loose gun parts and assorted ammunition.

Brandon firm fined
A Brandon firm has been fined $25,000 in relation to a workplace injury.
An Excel-7 Ltd. worker was replacing concrete slabs with a lifting device in a hog barn in the Rural Municipality of Oakview on Dec. 11, 2019, when a cable snapped and a 700-pound slab fell below floor level and swung from one end, crushing the worker’s thumb. The worker was also trapped against by the machine’s other cable, which had to be severed to free him.
Manitoba Labour says Excel-7 did not inform workplace safety and health for two days.
Charges of failing to immediately notify the branch that a serious incident had occurred were laid against Excel-7, which pleaded guilty on Sept. 27.

Frontier School Division faces $30,000 in fines after an employee was severely injured.
Manitoba Labour says a division worker in Moose Lake was pushing wood through an unguarded table saw on Dec. 12, 2019, when their left hand was cut by the rotating blade, resulting in serious lacerations.
Frontier has pleaded guilty to failing to ensure safeguards were in place and was fined $30,000, following an investigation by workplace safety and health.
