Eighty firearms seized

RCMP seized over 80 firearms and a large cache of ammunition after executing a search warrant Tuesday morning at a home in the Rural Municipality of Reynolds.

A 48-year-old man and a 37-year-old woman were arrested at the home and later released without charge.

“You can own most of these firearms legally with a firearm licence, but there is more to this investigation, and there will be charges… it’s just a question of who with what,” said RCMP spokeswoman Julie Courchaine.

Courchaine said most of the firearms and ammunition were properly stored, “but some were not.”

A continuing investigation will focus, in part, on which weapons were legally purchased and which ones were not, Courchaine said.
