Massive firearm seizure
RCMP seized more than 80 firearms and a large cache of ammunition after executing a search warrant Tuesday morning at a home in the Rural Municipality of Reynolds.
A 48-year-old man and a 37-year-old woman were arrested at the home and later released without charge.
“You can own most of these firearms legally with a firearm licence, but there is more to this investigation, and there will be charges… it’s just a question of who with what,” said RCMP spokeswoman Julie Courchaine.
Courchaine said most of the firearms and ammunition were properly stored, “but some were not.”
A continuing investigation will focus, in part, on which weapons were legally purchased and which ones were not, Courchaine said.
Body of missing woman found
RCMP in The Pas have identified a body found in the Saskatchewan River Thursday as that of a missing woman.
Doreen Head, 36, was reported missing on Oct. 19 after she was last seen in the northern Manitoba town on Oct. 17.
RCMP said her death does not appear to be criminal.
Mounties in The Pas and the chief medical examiner are investigating.
Arrest made in Dauphin fire
Dauphin RCMP have arrested a man wanted for arson in a retirement facility in the northwestern Manitoba town.
Alexander Koski, 21, of Dauphin, was accused of a break-in at Parkview Lodge early Tuesday. A small fire was set in a common area, RCMP said. No one was hurt.
Officers found Koski at about 11:30 a.m. Friday near 6th Avenue SW and 2nd Street SW and arrested him.
He’s been charged with arson with disregard for human life and mischief over $5,000.
