Man dies after collision on Route 90

A man has died after an early morning collision on Route 90.

Winnipeg police received reports of a two-vehicle collision around 2:45 a.m. in the southbound lanes of Century Street between Portage Avenue and Academy Road.

Police say the man, a pedestrian, succumbed to his injuries. The drivers involved in the accident remained on scene, and police say it is not being investigated as a hit and run.

The southbound lanes of Century Street between Ness Avenue and Academy Road remain closed to traffic Saturday as police investigate.

Police say 17 pedestrians have died in Winnipeg this year as a result of a collision.

More information on the incident will be released in the coming days, said police.
