Apartment evacuated, man arrested after uttering threats

A Winnipeg man is in police custody after threatening to harm police and expressing suicidal ideations.
Around 5:15 p.m. Friday, officers responded to an apartment block in the 300 block of Cumberland Avenue after a suspect made threats online toward police officers.
Police evacuated the building before placing a suspect under arrest, the Winnipeg Police Service said in a release.
Nobody was injured during the incident, police said.
A 35-year-old man is facing charges for uttering threats and mischief.
Two youths charged in St. James robbery

Two Winnipeg youths are facing an assortment of charges after a robbery in the St. James Industrial neighbourhood.
Around 3:45 p.m. Friday, police responded to reports of a robbery after three boxes of confetti poppers were stolen from a business in the 900 block of Milt Stegall Drive.
A 61-year old man attempted to intervene during the theft, but was assaulted with a can of bear spray. The victim was not injured, Winnipeg Police Service said in a release.
Officers identified two suspects near the intersection of Empress Street and Ellice Avenue. The pair fled in separate directions, but were arrested after a foot pursuit.
One suspect resisted arrest and the other brandished a can of bear spray at officers. Police recovered the stolen goods, police said.
A 14-year-old male is facing numerous charges, including robbery, resisting arrest, assault and assault of a peace officer with a weapon.
A 12-year-old male is charged with robbery and resisting arrest.
Both youths were released as mandated by the Criminal Code, police said.
