RCMP probe homicide in The Pas after two people found injured

RCMP are investigating a homicide in The Pas after two people were found with “obvious” signs of trauma near a home in the northern community Sunday morning.

Officers found the victims close to each other when they responded to a report of an unresponsive male shortly before 4 a.m., said RCMP.

One of the victims died and the other is in critical condition, said police.

Man found dead in Skownan First Nation home

A 68-year-old man was found dead at a residence on Skownan First Nation, Manitoba RCMP Major Crime Services said in a news release Sunday.

The man was found after Winnipegosis RCMP received a report of an assault Saturday morning. When the officers arrived at the scene, they found the victim had already died.

His death is being investigated as a homicide.

Woman in unstable condition after vehicle-train collision

5:00 PM

A 38-year-old woman was taken to hospital in unstable condition after a vehicle and a train collided at a railway crossing in Southdale on Sunday afternoon, according to Winnipeg police.

The woman did not have to be extricated from the vehicle, a Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service spokeswoman said.

The collision happened on Beaverhill Boulevard, west of Lakewood Boulevard, at about 2 p.m.

After coming to a stop, the train blocked traffic on multiple routes, including Fermor Avenue, which cross the CP Rail line, said police.
