Beverley street Slaying victim named

WINNIPEG police have identified the city’s seventh homicide victim.

Police were called to a shooting in the lane behind the 400 block of Beverley Street at about 6 a.m. Tuesday, where they found two women with gunshot wounds.

Lori Gordon, 49, had died by the time officers arrived, while the other victim, a 35-year-old woman, was taken to hospital. The second victim has been upgraded to stable condition, police said Wednesday.

No arrests have been made.

Man charged with forcible confinement

VIRDEN RCMP have arrested a man after a person was injured and held against their will in Sioux Valley Dakota First Nation last month.

Seril Mazawasicuna, 32, of the First Nation, was wanted on 16 charges, including assault with a weapon, forcible confinement, pointing a firearm and assault causing bodily harm.

Police were called on Feb. 24 about an injured person being held against their will on the First Nation, about 50 kilometres west of Brandon.

Officers found the victim in a home in the community, but the suspect had fled.

On March 2, two women, aged 34 and 37, were charged with assault, resisting arrest and obstruction.

Meth, Cocaine seized in Portage raid

POLICE found about 100 grams of meth, 28 grams of cocaine, pills and cash during a raid at a Portage la Prairie home on Sunday, RCMP said.

Four women aged 26, 31, 35 and 48 and a 52-year-old man will be charged with two counts each of possession for the purpose of trafficking.
