Einarson’s Team Canada loses to U.S.

Canada’s Kerri Einarson lost on last rock to the Americans early Sunday morning at the 2023 World Women’s Curling Championship in Sweden.
U.S. skip Tabitha Peterson made a long, straight-back takeout to score the decisive point in an 8-7 win over the Gimli team at Goeransson Arena.
Einarson, third Val Sweeting, second Shannon Birchard and lead Briane Harris dropped to 1-1 in the event, which features 13 teams in a round-robin format.
Canada can rebound Sunday afternoon against Norway. Game time is 1 p.m. CT (TSN-TV).
Jets trail Blues 1-0 after first period

ST. LOUIS – The Winnipeg Jets trail the St. Louis Blues 1-0 through one period of play at Enterprise Center.
Kasperi Kapanen put the home-side up 1-0 4:04 into the game, converting on a pass from Nick Leddy at the side of the net. It’s the fifth straight game and ninth of the last 10 Winnipeg has given up the first goal.
Shots are 13-7 in favour of the Jets.
