THE Winnipeg Regional Health Authority will hold drop-in vaccine clinics for children born during the pandemic, who are less likely to be up to date on vaccines for respiratory diseases.

The clinics, set to run until April 15, will offer the Meningococcal C Conjugate (Men-C-C) vaccine, which immunizes against meningococcal disease.

The disease spreads via the respiratory system and can infect the brain and blood, causing meningitis, blood infections, or even death.

The vaccine is recommended for infants at least a year old.

The WRHA announced the clinics in mid-March, stating vaccination rates for infant immunizations dropped by 6.2 per cent in 2021, and that babies born in 2019, 2020, 2021 may be less likely to be fully immunized.
