Jets “hopeful” injured Scheifele can play Game 5

2:55 PM

The Winnipeg Jets are “hopeful” injured forward Mark Scheifele could play in Thursday’s must-win Game 5 in Las Vegas.

Scheifele suffered an apparent shoulder or arm injury early in Monday’s 4-2 loss, which puts the Jets in a 3-1 hole in the best-of-seven series against the Golden Knights.

“I just talked to Mark and he is feeling better than he did last night,” coach Rick Bowness said Tuesday afternoon prior to the team flying to Sin City.

Nikolaj Ehlers, who has yet to play in the series, has not been ruled out either. Defenceman Josh Morrissey, who was injured in Game 3, and Cole Perfetti, who has not skated, remain out indefinitely.

If the Jets can win on Thursday, Game 6 would be held on Saturday in Winnipeg.
