A man has been charged with assaulting two people at random on Princess Street in late March.
Winnipeg police were called to Seven Oaks General Hospital for a report of a man who had been assaulted at Pacific Avenue and Princess Street around 8 a.m. on March 30, police said earlier this month.
The 56-year-old victim was hit in the upper body “without provocation” and fell to the sidewalk, police said.

The victim was taken to the hospital by a Good Samaritan.
Police said a second victim, who hasn’t been identified, was assaulted in the 200 block of Princess Street after the first attack.
Officers identified a suspect and released a photo of him to the public.
The police service said patrolling officers spotted the suspect “harassing pedestrians” for an extended period of time at Graham Avenue and Smith Street Wednesday afternoon.
They recognized the man and arrested him, police said.
A 31-year-old Winnipeg man has been charged with one count each of assault cause bodily harm and assault. He remained in custody Friday.
The suspect was recently convicted of an assault on a peace officer in Winnipeg in April 2022. He was sentenced to time served on March 20, having already been in custody for an equivalent 25 days.
On March 3, 2023, he was convicted of carrying a concealed weapon and breaching the curfew on a release order. He was given time served, having been in custody for the equivalent of 60 days, for the offences committed last November.
In October 2016, the man was sentenced to about 23 months in jail for robbery with a weapon that was committed in December 2014 in Winnipeg, court records show.
Police said they are still investigating the assaults and have asked anyone with security video, or who interacted with the accused, to call 204-986-6316 or Crime Stoppers anonymously at 204-786-8477 (TIPS).
