4 teens stabbed in Polo Park mall; teen suspect arrested
9:40 AM
A 16-year-old boy from Winnipeg is facing numerous charges after four teens were stabbed in CF Polo Park Shopping Centre Friday evening. Police also linked the suspect to a string of violent pizza-delivery robberies and damages to property.
Police were called to the mall around 8:30 p.m. Friday. They found three 14-year-olds and one 13-year-old suffering from upper- and lower-body injuries from a stabbing.
Two 14-year-olds were taken to hospital, while the third 14-year-old and the 13-year-old were medically cleared on scene. The lone suspect fled before the police arrived.
After a brief search, officers identified a suspect in the 200 block of Queen Street and arrested him without incident. A weapon was recovered, police said.
Police believe the suspect tried unsuccessfully to rob one of the victims and attacked them afterwards. The victims did not know the suspect and all incidents are believed to be random.
Police said the same teen is also a suspect in three robberies of pizza-delivery drivers; in two of the cases the driver was stabbed. He’s also a suspect in graffiti vandalism of two garages.
The suspect is facing several charges including four counts of robbery, five counts of aggravated assault with a weapon, and mischief under $5,000. He is being held in custody.
Suspect arrested in Flin Flon shooting
4:29 PM
Flin Flon RCMP has arrested a 27-year-old man for a shooting that took place on Ross Street in the community last week, according to a news release Sunday.
The suspect, who is from Flin Flon, was charged Sunday with attempted murder and a number of firearms-related offences. He remains in custody and is set to appear in court at a later date.
A 23-year-old woman and a 28-year-old man were injured in the incident. Both victims remain in hospital in stable condition. Police do not believe the incidents were random.
The investigation is ongoing.
