Suspect arrested for stabbing on Keewatin Street

12:50 PM

A 17-year-old suspect from Winnipeg was arrested for stabbing a 63-year-old man on Keewatin Street Saturday.

In the early hours of the morning, Winnipeg police were called to a multi-room home in the first 100 block of Keewatin Street where they found the victim suffering from upper-body injuries. He was taken to hospital in unstable condition and later upgraded to stable.

After a brief search, the suspect was located nearby and arrested. A sharp-edged weapon and a small quantity of methamphetamine were seized from him as evidence.

Initial investigation revealed the suspect had entered the victim’s residence through a window and stabbed him before fleeing the scene. The officers believe the incident to be random.

The suspect is facing several charges including aggravated assault, breaking and entering, carrying concealed weapon, and possession of scheduled substance.

He was released on an undertaking.
