Man enters school, confronts females

WINNIPEG police are warning the public after a suspicious man entered the women’s washroom at Maples Collegiate and confronted female students.

Investigators responded to reports of the incident Monday.

They learned the man was inside the washroom and confronted the girls when they entered. The students ran away and reported the incident to school staff.

The suspect fled, and police were called, the WPS said in a news release.

No student was injured, police said. School officials alerted parents and nearby schools about the incident.

Anyone with information about the suspect is asked to call investigators at 204-986-6245 or Crime Stoppers at 204-986-TIPS (8477).

Arrest made in point douglas homicide

A man has been arrested in connection with a slaying in North Point Douglas this month.

Winnipeg police said Tuesday Aaron Wayne Azure, 38, was arrested by police in the same neighbourhood on Monday. He has been charged with manslaughter and detained in custody.

Vincent Brian Kipling, 31, was found seriously injured near Main Street and Stella Avenue on May 10.

Kipling died in hospital.

Man arrested after cyclist assaulted

A Winnipeg man has been arrested after a cyclist was assaulted and robbed of his bicycle downtown on Saturday.

Winnipeg police said a 28-year-old man was arrested Monday and is facing a robbery charge.

Police said a 42-year-old man suffered upper-body injuries after being assaulted at Fort Street and Graham Avenue at about 2 p.m Saturday. He was assessed by paramedics. The suspect fled with the victim’s bike before police arrived.

Police said the suspect had approached the victim and that the assault was unprovoked.

Police identified a suspect. Downtown foot patrol officers spotted a man near St. Mary Avenue and Hargrave Street and arrested him without incident.

Girl, 12, dies after Vehicle rollover

Neepawa RCMP say a 12-year-old girl died after the utility terrain vehicle she was riding rolled off a rural road in early May.

Mounties were called to the rollover at about 7:45 p.m. on May 1, where they found the three girls who had been ejected from the vehicle, RCMP said.

The driver and one passenger, both 14, were taken to hospital with serious injuries, while the third girl, 12, had life-threatening injuries. She died on May 5. None of the girls was wearing a helmet or seatbelt.
