Three stabbed in separate incidents over the weekend

Three people were stabbed in separate incidents in the city over the weekend, according to the Winnipeg Police press release Sunday.

On Saturday, June 17, at approximately 5:45 a.m., officers were called to the 300 block of William Avenue for a stabbing incident. Police found the victim who had been robbed of his bike, stabbed and physically assaulted, according to the news release. The victim is in stable condition.

The same day, at approximately 9:25 p.m., a delivery driver was confronted and stabbed in the 800 block of Redwood Avenue, police said. Officers provided emergency first aid to the victim. The suspects fled the scene.

Later, at around 11:50 p.m., another stabbing was reported in the area of Stadacona Street and Tweed Avenue where the victim was approached by armed suspects and assaulted, police said. The victim was given first aid. The suspects are at large.

All incidents are under investigation.

Police are asking anyone with information or video surveillance regarding the incidents to call 204-986-6219 or Crime Stoppers at 204-786-TIPS (8477).

Winnipeg’s Neal wins Manitoba Marathon title

Winnipegger Dawn Neal crossed the finish line in 2:57:58 as the top female runner at the 2023 Manitoba Marathon Sunday morning.

Neal, 42, was followed by Winnipeggers Jessica Wylychenko and Caroline Fisher in second and third place, respectively.

In the men’s race, Roger Hopper of Chesapeake, Va., finished first with a time of 2:23:50. Steffan Reimer of Blumenort was second in 2:32:32 to earn top Manitoban honours. Winnipeg’s Paul Carr was third.

In the women’s half marathon, Elissa Legault of Mascouche, Que., clocked a first place time of 1:12:18. She was followed by Kinsey Middleton of Boise, Idaho.

In the men’s half marathon, B.C.’s Cameron Levins stormed to top spot with a course record time of 1:02:42.
