Firefighters tackle two house fires over the weekend
10:04 AM
The Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service (WFPS) responded to two house fires over the weekend on Furby Street and Marion Street.
On Saturday evening, crews were called to a a vacant, two-storey house in the 600 block of Furby Street where they found smoke and flames coming from the structure. The fire was tackled from inside the house, and declared under control at 10:16 p.m.
No injuries were reported.
Since the house had previously been damaged by fire last month, the WFPS has arranged for an emergency demolition of the building which will begin this morning.
Further, the crews responded to reports of a fire in a vacant, two-storey house in the 100 block of Marion Street Sunday morning. Firefighters applied water to the fire and then entered the house. The fire was declared under control at 4:18 a.m.
Two Firefighters were assessed at the scene by paramedics. They did not require transport to hospital.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
Hazardous materials leak reported on Lagimodiere Blvd.

The Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service responded to a hazardous materials leak in the 800 block of Lagimodiere Blvd. Saturday evening.
Once on scene, crews assessed the situation before entering the building. Once inside, the leak was safely mitigated and the building was ventilated.
No injuries were reported.
Fire breaks out in two-storey house on Dufferin Avenue

A fire broke out in a two-storey house in the 400 block of Dufferin Avenue Sunday.
The Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service received reports of a fire at 11:57 a.m. Crews launched an offensive fire attack, tackling the fire from inside the house. The fire was declared under control at 12:44 p.m.
Everyone inside had self-evacuated. No injuries were reported. The social services team helped displaced residents in finding temporary accommodations. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
