Crews respond to fire on Inkster Boulevard

A fire broke out in a two-storey home in the 200 block of Inkster Boulevard Sunday, according to a media release.
At 2:41 a.m., the Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service was called to the scene where they found smoke coming from inside the house. The fire was brought under control at 3:19 a.m.
All occupants of the house had safely self-evacuated and no injuries were reported. The fire is believed to be accidental.
Second flight of Yellowknife evacuees arrives in Winnipeg

A second – and, for now, final – flight carrying evacuees escaping wildfires in the Northwest Territories arrived in Winnipeg Saturday evening.
Evacuees and several pets flew from Yellowknife and arrived at the Winnipeg James Armstrong Richardson International Airport, where they were greeted at a reception centre and directed to hotel accommodations.
There are 42 people from NWT staying in Winnipeg hotels, while others are staying with family and friends, a spokesperson from the province said Sunday.
“At this time, no additional flights are scheduled to land in Winnipeg, but the province will remain in a state of readiness should more people need assistance,” the spokesperson said in an email.
Explosives seized from Redwood Avenue apartment, one suspect arrested

Explosives were seized from a suite in the 400 block of Redwood Avenue after police received a report Friday afternoon.
At around 5 p.m., patrol officers observed a strong smell of kerosene from the suite causing an immediate public safety concern.
After a search, officers located four Molotov Cocktails and some quantity of kerosene. Members of the Bomb Unit safely removed the explosives.
A 34-year-old Winnipeg man was taken into custody. He is facing charges including four counts of unlawful possession of explosives and four counts of failure to comply with conditions of a release order.
Lagimodiere at Dugald closed due to crash

South bound lanes on Lagimodiere Boulevard and Dugald Road were closed Sunday morning due to a vehicle collision, according to Winnipeg Police Service.
Public has been asked to avoid the area and plan an alternate route.
