Jets still lead Panthers 1-0

8:47 PM

Nino Niederreiter has the lone goal of the contest as the Winnipeg Jets have a 1-0 lead over the Florida Panthers on Friday night at Amerant Bank Arena.

Dylan Samberg snuck a shot from the left point through the pads of Sergei Bobrovsky and Niederreiter was quick to pounce on the rebound to score his sixth goal of the season at 17:43 of the first period.

Making his 15th start in 19 games, Jets goalie Connor Hellebuyck has turned aside all 17 shots he’s faced so far, while Bobrovsky has 18 saves for the Panthers.

Earlier in the day, the Jets got some good news as head coach Rick Bowness returned to the team after a 32-day absence.

Jets lead Panthers 1-0

Nino Niederreiter scored the lone goal of the first period to give the Winnipeg Jets a 1-0 lead over the Florida Panthers on Friday night at Amerant Bank Arena.

Adam Lowry won an offensive-zone draw, Mason Appleton got the puck back to the point and Dylan Samberg snuck a shot through Sergei Bobrovsky before Niederreiter stuffed it over the goal line.

The Jets are looking to win a fifth consecutive game as they continue a three-game road trip.

The big news of the day was the return of Jets head coach Rick Bowness, who was on leave for 32 days after his wife Judy suffered a seizure.

Bowness returns to Jets’ bench

9:49 AM

Rick Bowness is back.

The head coach of the Winnipeg Jets met the team in Sunrise, Fla. on Friday morning after a 32-day leave of absence to deal with a health issue for his wife Judy.

Bowness will be running the morning skate and will be back behind the bench in a full-time capacity, beginning with tonight’s game against the Florida Panthers.

The Jets are 11-5-2 this season and were 9-2-2 under associate coach Scott Arniel.
