Traffic around North Point Douglas resumes after residential fire contained

Winnipeg police and Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Services were on scene near Grove and Hallet Streets where a two-storey home caught fire sometime Sunday.
By 3:30 p.m. crews were clearing the scene as the house, which appeared to be seriously damaged by fire, continued to smolder.
The Winnipeg Police Service closed nearby roadways, including sections of Grove and Hallet Streets, and assisted in rerouting traffic.
Both roads reopened to traffic around 5:50 p.m., WPS said in a post on X (formerly Twitter).
A City of Winnipeg spokesperson said officials intend to release more details later in the day.
Crews worked to clear the scene of a house fire in North Point Douglas Sunday afternoon.
Bowness named NHL all-star coach

Winnipeg Jets head coach Rick Bowness is an NHL all-star.
Bowness will serve as one of four head coaches during the 2023 NHL all-star weekend in Toronto from Feb. 1 to Feb. 3, the Jets announced in a news release Sunday.
The 68-year-old coach joined the Winnipeg hockey club during the 2022-2023 campaign and has led the team to a 28-10-4 record this season. The Jets are currently the No. 1 team in the central division and are battling for the top spot in the league — trailing only the Vancouver Canucks by one point in the standings.
Under the all-star selection process, the head coaches of the teams with the highest points percentage in each of the four divisions at the halfway point of the regular season are asked to participate in the annual all-star weekend.
Bowness joins coaches Rick Tocchet of the Canucks (Pacific), Peter Laviolette of the New York Rangers (Metropolitan), and Jim Montgomery of the Boston Bruins (Atlantic).
