Manitoba’s Progressive Conservatives announced a caucus shuffle Monday, after choosing Lac du Bonnet MLA Wayne Ewasko as interim party leader.

Kathleen Cook (Roblin) will serve as deputy leader for Winnipeg and urban centres. The long-time business and community advocate was first elected to the Manitoba legislature Oct. 3.

Kelvin Goertzen (Steinbach) will serve as deputy leader for rural Manitoba. He has previously served as interim premier and minister of justice and health. He was first elected in 2003.

Greg Nesbitt (Riding Mountain) replaces Ron Schuler (Springfield-Ritchot) as caucus chair. Nesbitt, who was first elected in 2016, previously served as natural resources and northern development minister.

Doyle Piwniuk (Turtle Mountain) takes over as PC caucus whip from Ewasko. Piwniuk was first elected in a 2014 byelection and has served as transportation and infrastructure minister and deputy Speaker.

Derek Johnson (Interlake-Gimli) remains Opposition house leader.
