Police investigating after man, 43, dies

Winnipeg police’s homicide unit is investigating after a man was found unresponsive early Saturday morning and later died.

In a news release, police said they responded to a call at 3:15 a.m. Saturday regarding a man who was unresponsive at a residence in the 200 block of Fountain Street. Officers tried to help the man before he was taken to hospital in critical condition.

The 43-year-old man was pronounced dead in hospital. Police did not name him in the release.

The homicide unit is investigating.

Crews respond to two fires Friday

9:26 AM

Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service was called to the 500 block of Mountain Avenue at 7:47 p.m. Friday.

When crews arrived, two neighbouring two-storey houses were “fully-engulfed in flames and smoke” said a release Saturday.

The fire was declared under control at 9:46 p.m. and no injuries were reported.

At 7 p.m. firefighters were at a two-storey apartment building on the 200 block of Fountain Street. The fire was quickly brough under control and was contained to the suite where it originated.

Both fires are under investigation.
