Jets rally for 5-3 victory over Hurricanes

The Winnipeg Jets rallied for an impressive 5-3 victory over the Carolina Hurricanes on Saturday.
Down 3-0 through 40 minutes, the visitors struck for five straight. Nino Niederreiter had a pair, while Kyle Connor, Mark Scheifele and Sean Monahan had the others.
Connor Hellebuyck made 33 saves in the win.
The Jets improve to 38-16-5 on the year, while the Hurricanes fall to 36-19-6.
Winnipeg has now won eight of the last 10 games and wrap up a three-game road trip on Sunday evening in Buffalo.
Woman shot in face with air pistol in unprovoked attack

A 42-year-old woman will require multiple surgeries after she was shot in the face with an air pistol in what Winnipeg police say was an unprovoked attack Friday afternoon.
Police said the shooting happened while the victim and suspect, who were strangers, were sitting next to each other in a licensed business in the 700 block of Maryland Street at about 4:30 p.m.
The suspect fled but was arrested when he returned to the scene about an hour later.
Jamie Jules Manoakeesick, 18, of St. Theresa Point First Nation was charged with aggravated assault and weapon offences. He was held in custody.
Pair facing gun charges after bar fight: police

Two men, ages 29 and 32, are facing charges after Winnipeg police say officers seized a pair of loaded handguns and about 35 grams of cocaine early Saturday.
The suspects fled but were arrested after police were called to a fight at a bar in the 1100 block of Arlington Street shortly after midnight.
One was found in a yard in the 900 block of Pacific Avenue, after being spotted by the Winnipeg Police Service’s Air 1 helicopter crew.
Police said two Glock handguns were recovered by officers, along with cocaine, about $1,000 in cash and cellphones.
Both suspects were held in custody on charges including possession of a prohibited or restricted firearm with ammunition.
The 32-year-old man, who was prohibited from possessing a gun, is also charged with possession of cocaine for the purpose of trafficking, said police.
