Here’s a round-up of hours of business for services and things to do this long weekend.

SPECIAL EVENTS

Churches, synagogues and religious organizations will be holding Easter and Passover/Pesach services and some community organizations have planned Easter scavenger hunts. Looking for something else to do? See our list of community events.

GOVERNMENT SERVICES

Civic, provincial and federal offices are closed on Good Friday, April 18, and Easter Monday, April 21. 

There is no mail delivery on Good Friday or Easter Monday. Canada Post offices are closed, but post offices operated by the private sector will be open according to the hours of service of the host business.

All city cemetery grounds are open 8 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Winnipeg Transit will operate on a Sunday schedule on Friday, April 18 and returns to a regular weekday schedule on Monday, April 21. Plan your specific route and see service alerts on the Winnipeg Transit site.

RECYCLING AND TRASH

Recycling and garbage will be collected as usual.

The Brady Road landfill is open both days.

The 4R Winnipeg depot at the Brady landfill will be open. The Panet and Pacific 4R Depots will be closed on Friday and on Monday.

RECREATION AND LEISURE

Winnipeg Public Library branches will be closed on Good Friday and Easter Sunday. Select branches are open 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. on Easter Monday. Libraries open on Monday afternoon include Millennium Library, Bill and Norrie Library, Henderson, Louis Riel, Pembina Trail, St. James-Assiniboia and West Kildonan. City-operated arenas and leisure centres will be closed Friday, April 18 and Monday, April 21.

Most City of Winnipeg swimming pools will be closed on Good Friday and Easter Monday. On Easter Sunday, April 20, most pools close at 4 p.m., including Transcona Kinsmen Centennial Pool, St. James Assiniboia Centennial Pool, St. James Civic Centre Pool, Kinsmen Sherbrook Pool, Seven Oaks Pool, Elmwood Kildonans Pool, Sergeant Tommy Prince Place Pool. Pools open additional hours are Cindy Klassen recreation complex (open 2-6 p.m. Friday and Monday), Pan Am Pool (open 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. Friday and Monday) and Margaret Grant Pool (open 1 -5 p.m. Friday and Monday).

The Assiniboine Park Zoo will be open 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and The Leaf will be will be open 9 a.m. to 9 p.m.  See what’s on.

The Canadian Museum for Human Rights will be open 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Friday and Sunday. Closed Monday. See current exhibits and events.

The Manitoba Children’s Museum will be open 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.  Check out their featured events.

The Royal Aviation Museum of Western Canada will be open 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.  Upcoming events.

The Winnipeg Art Gallery-Qaumajuq will be closed Friday, open 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday, and closed Monday.  Current exhibitions.

SHOPPING

Most larger chain grocery stores are open, but you might want to call ahead to check the hours at your preferred shop.

CF Polo Park will be open 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Friday and Sunday; 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. on Monday.

Garden City Shopping Centre will be open 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Friday, closed Sunday, and open Monday 10 a.m. to 9 p.m.

Grant Park Shopping Centre will be closed on Friday and Sunday. Open Monday 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Kildonan Place will be open 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Friday, closed Sunday, open Monday 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.

Outlet Collection Winnipeg will be open Friday 11 a.m. to 6 p.m., closed Sunday, open Monday 10 a.m. to 9 p.m.

Portage Place will be closed Friday and Sunday.

St. Vital Centre will be open Friday 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Closed Sunday. Open Monday 10 a.m. to 9 p.m.

The Forks Market will be open. Create your own 3-D ceramic Easter egg at a sculpture workshop on Monday April 21 from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Tickets available for purchase here. 

Most Liquor Mart stores in Winnipeg will be open 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Friday and on Sunday, returning to regular hours on Monday, except for the True North Square location, which will be closed Friday and Sunday. Check hours at your preferred store.

Beer vendors and private wine stores set their own hours for holidays, so call ahead.
